Why we love it
Self-care brings together the voices of 13 authors who explore different aspects of self-care through their unique experiences as people belonging to minority groups. This collective work of fictional texts (poetry, stories, short stories and hybrid texts) considers affect, defense mechanisms, obsessions, impulses, melancholy, chronic pain or anxiety as privileged ways to address all ways of taking care of oneself, whether new age, ancestral, individualistic, supportive or (anti) capitalist. Without shying away from sheet masks and eye patches, these authors meditate, do yoga, practice a complex sexuality, engage politically and, above all, write. Their texts are endowed with such a sense of urgency that they prove that the self-care of socially marginalized people is always invested with a greater quest: for them, to take care of oneself is also to repair and recreate collectively. This book is only available in French.
